HELP FOR THE EVERYDAY JOBS AND THE PRECISE ONES

SKY:LEVEL SUPPORT

Readings &
calibration.

My readings look a little off.

Check that your device rests steadily and that a case or camera bump is not lifting one side. Let the reading settle before judging the angle.

On a surface you know is level, tap Set Zero to use that position as your reference. Keep the same case and contact edge for subsequent measurements. Tap Reset to return to the gravity reference.

Set Zero can also make a sloped surface read zero—it establishes a relative baseline, rather than proving that surface is level.

How are Surface and Spirit modes different?

Surface measures left/right and top/bottom tilt with the device lying screen-up. Spirit measures an edge like a traditional bubble level. For a longer contact edge, use landscape orientation.

Automatic mode switches as you reposition the device. To choose a mode yourself, open Tools → Mode.

The bubble stopped moving or a reading is unavailable.

Check whether Lock Reading is on; tap Unlock to resume. For an unavailable reading, lay the device screen-up in Surface mode or hold the screen upright in Spirit mode.

If readings still do not respond, close and reopen the app. If the problem continues, send us your device model, system version, and the steps that caused it.

What do precision mode and tolerance change?

Precision mode magnifies bubble travel near zero, making small adjustments easier to see. It does not change the sensor measurement or improve sensor accuracy.

Level tolerance controls how close a reading must be to level or your target before the app signals success. Both controls are in Settings. Unlock a held reading before changing them.

How do I measure a target angle or change units?

Tap the reading or its units control to change units. Degrees, slope percent, and millimetres per metre are available without Pro. Pro adds roof pitch, inches per foot, and slope ratio.

With Pro, open Tools → Pro tools, enable Target angle, and choose your angle. Use Spirit mode to measure against it. The level cue follows your target on either side.

Pro &
purchases.

What does Sky:Level Pro include?

Pro is a one-time purchase. It unlocks A/B angle comparison, measurement logs with notes and project photos, shareable cards, hands-free capture, stability traces, and project presets.

It also adds target angles, trade units, proximity haptics on supported devices, additional skies and custom colors, and unlimited saved references. The core level, Set Zero, Lock Reading, precision mode, quiet mode, and up to three saved references are free.

I already purchased Pro. How do I restore it?
  1. Make sure the App Store uses the Apple Account that purchased Pro.
  2. Open Sky:Level’s Settings using the sliders button.
  3. Open the Pro upgrade screen and tap Restore Purchases.

Connect to the internet while restoring. If Pro remains locked, email support with the message shown. Never send your password or payment details.

The purchase button is unavailable or my purchase is pending.

Check your internet connection and App Store sign-in, then reopen the Pro screen. If the app says the purchase is pending approval, Pro unlocks after Apple approves the transaction.

If a purchase completed but Pro is still locked, try Restore Purchases before buying again.

Does restoring Pro also restore my measurements?

No. Restoring a purchase restores access to Pro. Saved references, measurements, photos, and presets are stored on the device; Sky:Level does not sync them between devices. They may be included in your device backups.

Field tools &
saved data.

Where are Field tools?

Tap Field tools on the main screen. On a wide iPad landscape window, they appear in a sidebar beside the level. Smaller windows use the single-column layout.

How do I compare two positions?

In Field tools, choose Capture position A, then move the device to position B. The comparison shows the angular change. Use the same measurement mode for both positions. Capturing A does not replace your relative zero.

How does hands-free capture work?

Choose a 3-, 5-, or 10-second countdown in Field tools, then start capture and position your device. After the countdown, capture waits for 0.8 seconds of stability within 0.15°. It can capture a steady reading at any angle, not just zero.

It times out after 20 seconds of waiting. Leaving the app or changing measurement settings cancels capture. Stability indicates a settled reading, not verified accuracy.

How do I save or share a measurement?

Choose Save reading now in Field tools. Open the saved measurement to rename it, add a note or project photo, and create a measurement card. Use the share control to choose where to send it.

Only photos you select are attached. Records and photos stay in the app’s local storage unless you share a card. Export anything you need before deleting the app.

What do the stability trace and project presets do?

The trace shows the last eight seconds of movement and settling. Changing modes or references starts a new trace. It is not a measure of sensor accuracy.

Project presets recall mode, units, tolerance, target angle, precision, and feedback settings. They do not replace your zero or saved references.

Display &
device help.

How do I make the readings easier to see?

Tap the expand-arrows button for Quiet mode. It enlarges readings, hides secondary controls and the iPad sidebar, and pauses the sky animation. Tap the collapse-arrows button to return.

Enable Keep screen on in Settings to keep the display awake while the app is open.

The display does not rotate.

Check the rotation lock in Control Center. On iPad, the layout also depends on the available window size. The Field tools sidebar appears only when the landscape window is wide enough.

I cannot hear or feel the level feedback.

Enable Hands-free level sound in Settings and check Silent Mode and volume. The sound plays when the reading settles at level or your target.

Haptic feedback requires supported hardware; iPad does not provide the same vibration feedback as iPhone.

Why does the app ask for location?

Location is optional and is used to calculate sunrise and sunset for the automatic sky. Choose Use Current Location in Settings if you want that behavior. Without location, you can use manual sky times.

The calculation happens on your device. See the privacy policy for details.
